Notes:

The "not participating in the labor force" category is derived by subtracting the total employed and unemployed from the total civilian population aged 15 and over. 

Based on data from the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO), large businesses (those with 200 or more employees) employed 4,376,000 people as of June 2023. This figure represents roughly 34% of the total private sector workforce and was used to derive the number employed in Large Businesses.

The "Other Businesses" category is derived by subtracting the number of people employed by large businesses and all public sector employees from the total employed population. Large businesses are defined as those with 200 or more employees, based on data from the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO).

Because the data was collected at different time periods, the proportions are slightly out. e.g. July 2025's unemployment rate is actually 4.2%.
